When I was first asked to contribute to this blog, I was really worried about having things to share each week. I was told to just share things that God might be showing me or doing in my life. I am continually praying for direction of each and every post I share with you! It's amazing how God has blessed me personally through preparations to write each and every post. This week was no different. But instead of a scripture or personal experience, this time it's all the words of a song!
I am currently doing a personal bible study based on the season of lent. It's been great to dive into God's word even more as Easter approaches. It's been amazing to think on the events that led up to the day that the ultimate sacrifice was made! This song is one of my favorites and I came across it again today and just felt like it needed to be part of my post for this week! I pray these words bless you this week as well!!
How Deep the Father's Love For Us
How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son,
To make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss-
The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.
Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished.
I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart-
His wounds have paid my ransom.
