So..... how are you all enjoying this AK weather lately? I know it isn't Springtime yet, but it sure seems like Spring is in the air doesn't it? Well I don't know about you, but as soon as signs of the changing season are visible I am in the mood for some deep cleaning, renovating, remodeling, etc. Well with our odd Alaska winter, this mood has come for me quite a bit early. Even though winter may not be over the feelings are still coming. So I have already repainted our basement, worked on some wall hanging projects and started going through the 'junk' that piles up.
The season of Spring represents a new start or another beginning. A time to begin putting a lot of care into getting something to grow and mature! This not only applies to plants, animals, our homes, etc. But we can apply it to ourselves and our walk with the Lord.
I'd like to talk about a different kind of spring cleaning- spiritual cleaning and rejuvenation within ourselves. This is a great season to take this step. To maybe start fresh! Start or recommit yourself to putting more care into your growth in God's word and with a personal relationship with Him! God tells us in the Bible, "Behold, I make all things new." Revelation 21:5
Thankfully, the Lord provides so many ways to do this. Many churches start new Bible studies this time of year- join one. There are SO many devotional books and bibles that you can start your morning with- go buy one or order one online. Maybe an online group or study is more your cup of tea- take that first step and search for one! Ask another woman or friend to meet with you on a regular basis for accountability and to share what God is doing in your lives- pray for God's guidance in who you should ask. Start a prayer journal where you can surrender your requests to God in writing- take the first step and get a cute notebook! Ultimately, the possibilities are ENDLESS!!!
I just pray that each of you will take the time to take a look inside yourselves when you start thinking about spring cleaning! It's not all about the garden, the flowers, the house, the garage, or the stuff. Most importantly, it's about the growth you have in your walk with our Lord.
Lord, I lift up those that have read these words. May you bless them, Lord! May they feel your love and your presence in their daily lives. Lord, please put a fire in us as we sense the changing of seasons. Help us to pray for guidance in where we need to put more care into ourselves so we can grow with You! Help us to then listen Lord and have the strength and the courage to obey and take the first step into making it happen. So many times Lord I get caught up in the everyday life and I know that I stumble in this area Lord. Help us to see the importance in our growth in our relationship with you. Bless the homes and marriages of each of the women reading Lord! Help them to keep you at the center of it all! In Jesus name we pray, Amen!
Blessings,
Jamie
