I've battled this discouragement for close to a year now. I had my accident at the end of December and that left me physically unable to do all that I wanted and needed to do. That left me relying on others to help with daily tasks (thank the Lord they were willing) and sometimes the battle of my physical capabilities and what I'd like to do leaves me discouraged.
Now I'm at the tail end of my pregnancy and as much as I'm trying to push through the aches and pains with a smile knowing its for a good reason, it's hard when you've spent almost a year taking it easy. I want to get caught up on the chores, I want to finish the projects I've started. I want to make a quality meal for my family but by the end of the day all I can do is rest. In the midst of being discouraged I was reminded of this scripture.
“And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.” Genesis 2:2 NKJV
God rested. The maker of heaven and earth, the One who is capable of ANYTHING rested. He did what He needed to do, and then He rested. If the God of the universe rested, what makes me think that I don't need to rest? Why would I think that I would be capable of doing everything, going non-stop, and not needing to take it easy and rest sometimes? Sometimes we get injured, sick, busy, or maybe even pregnant and can't quite keep up with all that we'd like to do. Sometimes we get over-committed and worn out, and you know what? It's ok to rest sometimes, God did.
Are you discouraged or weary like I am today? Do you feel like you aren't accomplishing all that you'd like to? Do you feel like you are letting people down? Have you been physically limited and struggled with battling what you want (or need) to do, and with what you are physically capable of doing? Are you weary and worn out from going a million miles a minute? Are you discouraged because no matter how hard you try, your to-do list never seems to get any shorter?
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
In His Love,
Rosalynn
