When Mama Needs a Hug

Moms, do you ever need a pat on the back?
Or a whisper in your ear that you are doing things right?
Or maybe just a confirmation that you aren't totally messing up your kids?

I know I do!!

Recently, we hit a rough patch as parents. One kiddo faced some challenges that left my husband and I a bit confused and overwhelmed. We struggled through some hard decisions. We prayed. We sought God's guidance. We asked our own parents for feedback. Then we decided on a course of action.

Weeks passed. I couldn't help but wonder...Did we do the right thing? Or did we make a strategical error?

Enter a book. To try something new, I signed up with Dannah Gresh to read and review her new book, The 20 Hardest Questions Every Mom Faces. I thought it would be a fun experience...and it would give me an excuse to read!!

Little did I know God sent me this book for another purpose. Passage after passage gave me confirmation reinforcing our decision. I just might have worn out a pencil underlining, circling, and writing stars and exclamation points next to words that soothed my heart and challenged my soul.

Do you need some soothing, too? Do you need confirmation that you are doing something right? Grab a blanket, some coffee, and spend some time in this book for some valuable mama-hugs.

Or maybe you are entering a season of parenting challenges? Do you need guidance? Get out your highlighters and mark away as you seek guidance for the tough issues facing moms today. You won't find legalistic formulas dictating what a "godly" mom must do. Instead, you will find basic principles from the Bible and encouragement to get on our own knees to seek God Himself for the right answers.

Dannah's best advice??

Pray. Pray. Pray.

Over twenty times, she encourages us moms to really give our problems to God. She reminds us to pour out our fears and worries to God. (He can handle it!) She tells us to give our children back to God's care. She encourages us to pray with a trusted friend(s) for our kids. She even gives us encouragement for the waiting times.

Fellow mamas, sometimes parenting is HARD. It's hard in the good times, and it's even harder in the tough times.

Whether you are single, divorced, or married, you are never alone. You have a heavenly Father who loves you and your children more than you can imagine! Rest in His love. Let Him walk with you through the challenges. And never stop praying for your sweet children!
